voyager was designed to last 1 billion years. pretty easy to guarantee that i guess.
voyager (both) are traveling about 38,000 mph. in 1 billion years:
- they will be about 3.8 * 1013 miles away
- which is about 410 AU away
- which is about 6.5 light years away
which is just unfathomable.

That math ain’t mathing. One light year is more than 63,000 AU.
We might overtake it in the meantime. I wonder what we will do if we do, leave it be or retrieve it for a museum?
Voyager 1 is currently traveling at 53 millionths the speed of light, so it will cover 53 lightyears per *million* years, I’m not sure what calculations you are doing.
