Using my 8in 130mm Dobsonian Telescope Wednesday

Viewing angle 50* (NW)

As I Was setting up for a photo of the clusters around NGC6526 and Lagoon nebula (I maybe wrong on the cluster new to astronomy) I saw something I can’t explain. The attached videos are a couple vids I took of what appears to be a pyramid shaped craft.

First video is a cropped video that captured what I could see with my eye first. Didn’t event realize it was that clear and deserving of some more review to get over my sceptasism when it happened until I realized how good a shot I got of it.

Took second video to show it wasn’t an abirarion of my telescope or camera. I could only see it through my telescope both with only my eyes and with my iphone camera video and photo settings.

I do have more videos because when it happened I tried a bunch of different experiments to rule out a glitch, drone or other explanation.

I also grabbed my night vision and don’t see anything but haven’t reviewed the footage yet since it just happened.

I was not trying to see a UFO just playing around with some Astro photography. If anyone is Mira Mesa Astronomy saw it too let me know!

I usually usually take a video while setting up because it’s an annoying as hell to get the angle right with my phone even with a mount. But noticed the pink light first with my eye and thought it was weird because it was not there a minute before.

I tried to debunk my self when I filmed this the other day. It wasn’t till I was reviewing photos to see if I had good shots that night. Laughed while posting this, because right after the clear shot are my terrible attempts to get jupiter and 4 moons making appearance that night

Also, I have night vision that can set to FLR or regular sight. Couldn’t see it on there. Only through the Dobsonian. I have a smaller refractor telescope, but couldn’t see anything bc it was too cold and condensation was on the lense. (I use a hairdryer on the back of my dobs when it gets bad)

  3. It looks like you caught the reflection of the autofocus and depth IR emitters on your camera reflecting in the lens of the scope. Try taking a picture with the same camera pointed at a mirror in a dark room.
