When you think about it all consciousness must have a fundamental “suchness” to it. It doesn’t matter if it’s a dog or an ant, the experience that each organism is having is that visceral, more real than real, thing in and of itself. A dog might not be able to apply the sort of nuance emotional understanding of that experience in the same way a human can, ants even less so, but their experience is still real. Perhaps the reason with anthropomorphize is because we understand at some deep level that the experience of animals is just as raw and real as our own experience?
