Submission statement: I just stumbled upon Micah Hanks’ and Tim McMillan’s interview with Salvatore “Sal” Pais – the scientist who published a series of controversial patents on the topic of exotic propulsion, commonly known as the “UFO patents”. The interview did not instill much confidence in him, sadly. His language is a little stilted. He kept interrupting and derailing the conversation, offered very little in terms of substance, but plenty of superlatives and expletives. He seems quite deep into the crypto thing, and thinks extremely highly of Sam Altman.
The interesting part to me was learning that the choice of publishing patents was a response to repeated declined articles he had hoped to publish in peer-reviewed journals. He is clearly not writing in the field he was trained, but it is hard to tell from outside if he has some brilliant insight or just an overinflated ego. Tim McMillan seems to think there is something here, as does the U.S. Patent office committee.
