I posted this on the Photography sub, but few people saw it so let’s see if another sub can solve my childhood mystery!

Quick background, I went to a science camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains in ‘05/‘06 with my school, and I brought a standard disposable camera from the drugstore with me. I took 2 identical photos from the same position during camp of the main field area. The first picture came out totally normal once developed (not pictured but you can imagine it, and the whole photo set is still back at my family home). This second picture, which I took seconds after the initial one, turned out like this.

What’s going on here? All photos from this trip are totally normal and perfectly developed, and this picture isn’t damaged or anything. It’s all been sitting in a plastic box in the garage for years. I remember seeing this as a kid and being totally freaked out. I would love to hear people’s thoughts to what’s happened here since I’m no film camera or photography expert. Thanks in advance!
