Photographed last night as the moon rose over Carter’s Mountain, near Charlottesville, Virginia. The moon’s apparent large size is due to forced perspective as I was some 1.5km away from the barn shooting with a 550mm telephoto lens. Helps too that it was a “supermoon” with the moon near its perigee.
Someone fortuitously left a light on so if you zoom in it looks as if the moonlight is spilling out of the front door.
The photo is a combination of three bracketed exposures to account for the vast dynamic range in the composition.
