This is a drone platform that uses a turbine engine for propulsion that can be switched to an air pump propulsion system for quiet operation. If this system is put into a gas filled hull the drone now can sit any desired point in the atmosphere for extensive periods.
Examples of drone in use: You want to spy on a foreign military base that’s a vast distance away and your satellites just can’t get a good angle on what you want to see. So you take your drone and mock it up as a rock and fly it over via the turbine engine (The purpose of the turbine using turboprop would be fuel efficiency over speed since a big balloon wouldn’t be able to reach high speeds) (The jet engine is practical in a rigid structure such as aerographene and I believe would reach mach speeds, aerographene is very new tech to the public and is currently being studied upon) Once close enough to catch attention the turbine engines would be powered off and the air pumps activated. You can then stealthily place the drone in an vantage point that would never be possible with satellite. Keep in mind the drone wouldn’t be small like a normal consumer drone. This is an enclosed hull that would be around the size of a truck as it needs sufficient volume to lift all of the components inside. The craft can be manned aswell with an upscale in size.
This is a ufo sighting from 1936 (around 30 years after the gas turbine was established and 6 years after the jet engine was patented) eyewitnesses Holger Berg claims that he heard a sound similar to a turbine engine powering off, but the craft still hovers and floats away. Sounds like it could be a “lighter than air” craft that has some sort of turbine engine. Keep in mind that this is theoretically possible to be built in 1936, we were familiar with blimps at the time and I’m sure a team of the worlds finest could engineer a turbine engine into a blimp. I’m sure a few countries at the time were trying their part at making experimental aircraft with the newly invented jet turbine engines and this craft that Holger Berg witnessed may just be one of them.
I want to add that I’m not claiming a craft like this is what every ufo is, I’m only adding that a craft like this could have existed at that time period.
